Students
The boy is currently in grade 4/5 (the grades are taught together) where he is a solid student. His particular strengths are in Math and Science where he consistently achieves top scores, and his relative weakness is in English and Writing, where his scores are average. He is bilingual in English and Bosnian. He is a strong and well-developed young man. He is tall for his age and is very active, a natural athlete, choosing physical pursuit for relaxation whenever possible. He is a keen herpetologist, is a typical and confident Leo leader and he has a keen interest in all things military, including shooting. He also enjoys golf, rap music, and loves to put on a show. He prefers a learning environment that is warmly encouraging while uncompromising; he responds best to teachers who are interesting, and treat him as an adult in terms of expectations and discipline.
He will be taking his ISEE at the end of the year and is hoping to be accepted into a good private school in Malibu.
The girl is currently in grade 1/2, and also tall for her age. Her grades are fine, but she is capable of much more, preferring to work within herself at the moment. She could not be more different from her brother. She is soft, bright, and loving, calm and patient. She is happy to play by herself and is a typical Libran. She learns best in a comforting, patient and loving environment.
Role of the Tutor
The children can be taught together for some of the time and separately for part of the time. A creative educator should be able to develop multi-disciplinary, project-based explorations that allow for the strengths of both children to be exploited and for their weaknesses to be addressed.
The job is based mainly in London and Sarajevo, with periods of travel on a yacht based in the Mediterranean, and possible visits to cities such as Venice and Paris. The Tutor will be expected to plan a program of study that takes advantage of these locations, and to prepare materials relevant to these destinations.
Hours, Holidays, and Travel
A typical day will involve morning tutoring from 10am-1pm, with breaks as needed. There will then be a lunch break before afternoon activities and excursions until about 4pm each day, or later if the children are taken to the theater for example. The Tutor will do his or her preparation in addition to these times.
The Tutor will be entitled to a minimum of one day off per week, on average.
The Tutor is entitled to a pro-rata vacation allowance, or payment in lieu, based on the standard Terms.
The Client will be responsible for all costs arising for any travel throughout the contract term.
Accommodation and Miscellaneous
Meals that occur during tutoring time in all locations, and while aboard the yacht, will be provided by the Client.
Both children have a manny and a nanny who take care of their everyday needs, so the Tutor will need to have the experience and maturity to work with these people while carrying out their work. Behaving with appropriate service professionalism at all times is very important.
The Tutor should be physically fit and lead a healthy, active and clean lifestyle. He or she will preferably be a non-smoker; where the applicant is a smoker this will need to remain invisible and undetectable throughout the contract term.
