A Tutor is required to teach IGCSE Chemistry.

Student

The student is a 15 year old boy, and is being homeschooled for one year until his GCSEs in May/June 2011. He is an ambitious and capable student. He has received little formal IGCSE-focussed Chemistry preparation to date, so will require both suitable reinforcement of foundation and background, as well as guidance and preparation on the specific assessment areas of the IGCSE Specification.

The Tutor

The successful candidate must have an excellent track record at teaching Chemistry to IGCSE or GCSE. It is envisioned that the Edexcel Specification will be followed. It has not yet been decided whether the boy will be taking the Dual Award in Science or separate sciences.

The Chemistry Tutor will be responsible for working cooperatively with the boy’s main Tutors, and will need to make the main Tutors aware of required resources.

The Chemistry Tutor will be expected to bring an attitude of teamwork and cooperation to this position with respect to the main and any additional Tutors. This is especially so with regards shared teaching space and scheduling. The Chemistry Tutor will need to remain in constant communication with the main Tutors.

Hours, Travel, and Accommodation

There will be 2 hours tutoring per week, weekdays between 9am-6pm, throughout the remainder of the 2010-11 academic year. These hours will be subject to review on a half-termly basis.

The Tutor will be reimbursed for public transport in London for every day they work. (The job is just north of Clapham Old Town SW4; about an 8-minute walk from Clapham Common tube station.)

No accommodation is available.
