A Tutor is required to work with an adult looking for help improving her written and spoken English.
Application deadline: Tuesday, May 1, 2012
Student
The student is an adult woman who recently relocated from Italy to England. In Italy she worked as a fashion journalist and would now like to return to work, this time in England, writing in English. Unfortunately her level of fluency is nowhere near what is required to be successful and it is hoped that some intensive tuition from a superb Tutor will be able to develop her understanding of grammar, develop a more extensive vocabulary, and help her with creative writing.
The Tutoring Role
This position requires a Tutor who is a native speaker of English with Received Pronunciation. He or she will need to have impeccable grammar, both written and spoken. It is likely that the successful candidate will have an English degree from a top flight University, will have at least an EFL qualification and appropriate experience with adult learners. Well-qualified and experienced English graduates who have, themselves, a track record of excellent working with English learners are welcome. Preference will be given to applicants who also have some journalism experience, particularly if this is within the fashion industry.
Miscellaneous
This is a short term, part-time assignment, although it may be extended. In the first instance the Tutor will work 3 times a week, for 90 minutes each time, for 12 weeks. The precise days and times of the tutorials will be agreed directly between Client and Tutor. There is no vacation entitlement. Accommodation is not provided. The Tutor is responsible for his or her own travel costs.
