Student
The boy is a bright young man who has a variety of sports and interests. He is academically strong and rarely needs to be told more than once how to do something. He enjoys reading, and his current preference is for fiction. Good as he is at learning new skills, these can soon be forgotten without regular practice and application, and it is this that is the focus of the role.
The Tutoring Role
In English, the boy needs the most help with securing his spelling, improving his creative story writing and the reliability of his reading comprehension, in which he does well at home but falters at school. In Maths, the focus should be in mental arithmetic and oral word problems. Where French is concerned, since neither of his parents are that good at French, he mainly needs help with extending his vocabulary and fluency.
These areas are, of course, just the immediate focus. It is likely that has the tutoring progresses the Tutor and the boy’s parents will both identify other areas that could benefit from the Tutor’s support.
