Dubai, UAE (DU1004)
This position is not currently available.
A tutor is sought from July 2005 for one year, to work with a boy aged 12, and (to a lesser extent) his sister aged 9. The boy will attend normal school, and the tutoring will fit around this schedule, ie. tutoring will be late afternoon and evening, plus some time at weekends.
Application deadline: Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Education

The boy will be taking his Common Entrance exams for a top-tier private school, in England in 2006, and needs to be prepared thoroughly across all subject areas. These include: Maths, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, History and English. Experience of working with Common Entrance preparation at this level is essential.

This appointment is not purely about exams though, and the tutor should encourage and develop a holistic well-rounded level of knowledge and understanding in all aspects of life.

Scenarios

There are two scenarios for filling the position:

Scenario 1 (Full time)
The post will be filled by a well-qualified, multi-disciplinary, individual, (or teaching couple).

Scenario 2 (Assignments)
Two or three different teachers on short-term assignments will work in successive placements.

Applications are welcomed from suitably experienced teachers who can teach some or all of the subjects to be covered.
Please note: If the appointment is filled by a couple, they need to be married for visa purposes.

Other factors

The family leads a physically active lifestyle, including frequent travel. Sometimes plans may change unexpectedly and the tutor’s ready flexibility and willingness to be a part of these activities is essential.

Outside of teaching time, the tutor will be left to his or her own devices, and so he or she will need to be a self-starter, gregarious, and with independent interests.

The family has a small dog and a strong interest in horses – the tutor should therefore like to be around animals.
