Student and Subjects
Currently, he is studying for GCSEs, and needs preparing for the June 07 sittings in English Literature, History and Latin. There is no advantage to be gained from studying for GCSEs - on top of his tennis training - unless the young man does well.
Role of the Tutor
The student will benefit from a tutor who is enthusiastic about sports - a non-smoker - and who appreciates the important role in being part of the team of adults supporting this young mans professional tennis career. The academics are important, but the tutor must appreciate that the main goal here is to facilitate a young man with exceptional tennis ability to achieve his full potential.
The right tutor will join in and support the boy outside of the teaching, sharing in day-to-day activities such as running the apartment, preparing meals and other light duties. The job will require flexibility, close communication with the coach, and creativity and fun to keep the studying moving forward through a punishing training schedule.
Holidays, Accommodation, Transport
Accommodation will be in an apartment shared with the tennis coach. The tutor will have his own bedroom and will share the bathroom and communal rooms. The apartment rent is included, but the tutor will be expected to meet their own living expenses.
The tutor will have current clean driving licence. No car will provided for the tutor for general use - should one be required the tutor will need to make their own arrangements.
Hours, Fees, Term
Fees - The position is roughly two-thirds of a normal full-time position. The fees to the tutor will range from 24,000 to 34,000 pa, depending on experience and qualifications.
Term - The start date is as soon as possible, and the placement will run to June 2007 in the first instance. It is a strong possibility the contract will be extended after this period, once the educational pathways have been clearly defined.
Contractual buy-out - The client is looking for the right person and is prepared, in principle, to pay a suitable amount to release a tutor from an existing contract. The exact terms of such an arrangement would need to be discussed.
