Nassau, Bahamas (BAH-1106)
This position is not currently available.
A tutor is required to work with our client’s eldest son in Nassau. The position is to start in January 2007, and is to run to the end of the academic year, ie. June 2007. At that point the client may renew the tutor for an additional year… OR… the client may start with a new tutor from August 2007. It is possible that the contract will run for up to 3.5 years from January 2007.
Application deadline: Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Student

The student is a 15-year-old boy. He is highly motivated, and wants to join his father in business, but first needs to master the content of a Business degree. The boy’s education to date has been varied, and it is unknown at this stage what level of competency he has across the core curriculum.

Tutoring

The tutor will need to start with an assessment of the boy’s education with regard to the skills and knowledge required for a Business degree. Once the boy has been assessed, the tutor will need to provide the necessary teaching to ensure that the required foundations are firmly in place. An alternative strategy may be to start into the Business course and ‘backfill’ as gaps become apparent.

The family do not need their son to gain any formal qualifications, but do require that he completes all the courses that would be taught in a university-level Business course. This exciting opportunity offers considerable freedom for learning without concern for those aspects of a typical foundation course (such as A levels) that are not actually required for a Business degree.

The boy’s progress will be assessed annually by visiting business experts from well-known institutions. These experts will discuss with the student what he has studied and provide their professional opinion of his competence in these areas.

Hours and Holidays

This is a full time position. The tutor will work from 9am to 2pm with short breaks as required. Afternoons will be used to prepare material. The tutor will have weekends off.

Between January and June 2007, the tutor will be entitled to 4 weeks paid holiday at times convenient to the client. (The long-term contract will have 9 weeks paid holiday per annum)

Other Factors

The client will provide lodging in a nearby apartment and a car for the use of the tutor.
There may be some travel with the family, but no details of this are known at present.

The client recognises that a tutor relocating at short notice may have some expenses - such as those incurred by giving insufficient notice for termination of a rental agreement, or early termination of a current contract - and the client will contribute to such costs if necessary.

Applicants may apply for either start – January 2007 or August 2007.
In your letter of application, please state clearly which start date you are interested in.
