Northern Italy (ITA-0207)
This position is not currently available.
A tutor is required for a young girl from September 2007 for at least three years. The position will be based mainly in northern Italy, near Verona.
Application deadline: Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Student

The girl will be three in November 2007 and will be home-schooled for three years. At that stage the girl may be enrolled in school or continue to be home-schooled. Although she already has an understanding of four languages – English, German, French and Italian – the language of instruction will be English.

The girl follows a structured daily routine between 8am and 8pm. Naturally, as she gets older, these times are likely to change, but there will always be a strong structure in place.

Role of the Tutor

The girl currently has two nannies, who work in rotation, so there is always someone on duty. The tutor will not, therefore, have any nanny duties. However, the tutor will need to work closely with the girl’s nannies, and with the client, to ensure that activities run smoothly.

The tutor must be able to offer the very best in tutoring, providing every opportunity for academic development and experiential learning. The selected tutor will be of the highest calibre, highly able, well read, and self-reliant. The foremost goal, particularly in the early stages, is to develop a sense of fun and to ensure that academic development and enjoyment of learning are equal partners in the girl’s formative years.

The client anticipates close communication with tutor. The tone of the relationship will be formal, with appropriate private service professionalism expected. As with all good employment relationships, a spirit of mutual respect is desired. Of ultimate importance will be the relationship that the tutor establishes with the child, ensuring that it is healthy, fun and within the wishes of the parents.

Hours, Accommodation, Holidays

The girl’s day runs from 8am to 8pm. The most likely times for tutoring and other educational activities will be - at most - between 9am-12 and 3-7pm. Not all this time will be spent with the student and non-contact time can be used for preparation and planning. These hours may vary and are likely to change over the years.

The client will provide full board and lodging for the tutor in a self-contained apartment within the family estate. Suitable accommodation will also be provided for the tutor when travelling with the family.

The tutor will be entitled to 9 weeks paid holiday each year as per our standard terms.

Other Factors

The client travels frequently within Europe. When the girl is older, travel will be even more extensive and the tutor will accompany the family. The client will be responsible for all expenses for the tutor while travelling.

The tutor will have the use of a car in all locations.

This is a formal tutoring position that will suit someone who themselves maintains the highest personal standards. The ideal applicant will have the requisite educational background and social skills, and will also speak Italian, enjoy winter sports especially skiing, enjoy horse-riding, and be comfortable around animals.
