An experienced AP Spanish teacher is required as a Tutor in Beijing, for 2.5 weeks from April 19 – May 6, inclusive. The Tutor will work with one student on an intensive review program in preparation for his AP Spanish exam on May 6, 2008.

Student

The student is 17 and lives in Beijing with his family. He is undertaking an ambitious academic schedule of IB English, French, Economics, Math, Physics and Chinese at his local school. In addition, through extra tuition outside school, he is working towards US qualifications in AP Spanish (exam in May 2008) and AP Calculus (exam in May 2009).

His parents have described the young man as “a gifted underachiever with ADD”. The young man needs additional help to reach his full potential in his academic studies.

Role of the tutor

The boy needs an intensive revision program prior to his AP Spanish exam in May.

The Tutor will work with the young man as much as his other academic and extra-curricular commitments allow.

The Tutor will be expected to bring previous AP examination material from which the student can practice and polish his technique.

The student works best with engaging and interesting teachers that demand the best from their students at all times. Under the care of the right educators the boy will excel. The successful applicant for this position will be able to command the respect of the young man and attention from the start, while maintaining a productive, polite and fair learning environment.

Other Aspects

Hours and Holidays - The Tutor should expect to work from 3.30pm to 10pm weekdays, and all day during weekends or days that there is no school. The Tutor will teach for 18 days, from April 19th to May 6th inclusive.

Accommodation - The tutor will be provided with accommodation for the duration of their assignment. He will have his own room in shared apartment with the family’s pilot.

All meals are included, or a daily stipend will be given.

Travel - The Client will meet the travel expenses for the tutor to and from their home to Beijing. The Client will also cover the costs associated with getting a Chinese visa.

A car will not be provided. Taxis are inexpensive and the family’s driver may be available sometimes. Either way, the Client will reimburse the Tutor for the costs of all travel for work.
