Several families in Northwest London are seeking highly experienced tutors for face-to-face, in-home preparation for the 11+ entrance exams. The role will begin in mid-January 2025 and continue throughout the academic year, helping students secure places at competitive senior schools.

Students

The students are currently enrolled in private schools in northwest London and are preparing for entrance exams to some of the region’s most competitive senior schools. These schools include South Hampstead High School, Channing School, Highgate School, Francis Holland School, Haberdashers’ Girls’ School, and the City of London School. The students vary in ability, and each will require tailored support to strengthen their exam readiness and secure placement at their target schools.

Role of the Tutor

The Tutor will provide one-on-one tutoring focused on 11+ exam preparation. The Tutor must have a deep understanding of the 11+ exam structure and the admissions processes of above-mentioned schools. Familiarity with the specific requirements of these schools is crucial. This includes knowledge of exam timing, format, and the level of preparation required for students to stand out. The Tutor will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, tracking student progress, and communicating regularly with parents. This role is suited to those with teaching qualifications or have substantial experience in tutoring students for the 11+ (at least ten years), with a proven record of success.

Tutors must be available for in-home sessions (no online tutoring) and flexible to meet the students’ schedules, especially as exams approach. Typical sessions will range from 2 to 4 hours per week per student, with potential for increased hours during key periods. Typically, lessons would be after school at the Client’s homes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.

Hours

Tutoring will generally be 2 to 4 hours a week per family, with potential for additional hours as exam dates approach. The Tutor will need to be flexible with scheduling to accommodate each family’s needs.
