Students
The boy is dyslexic and needs additional help with his reading and writing.
The elder sister is an exemplary student who works hard. She will be attending the American School of London and it is unlikely that the Tutor will work at all with the elder sister, but not impossible.
The students are doing very well at their respective schools in the US, and the Tutor will need to make sure that the children will reintegrate at their grade level when they return to the US, but this is only a small part of the envisaged Tutoring role.
Role of the tutor
The Tutor will therefore need to know London very well, and be able to include frequent excursions and activities to enhance the educational experience. The Tutor will create a rich and varied learning experience that covers not only the general school curricula of both children, but which extends to include music and foreign languages. Their current school will provide the Tutor with appropriate course materials for both students so that the Tutor neither falls behind nor gets too far in front of the twins’ respective peer groups.
The two younger children work well together, but the boy’s dyslexia means that he needs additional support. It is expected that the Tutor will be experienced with working with Dyslexic children and will be able to offer the boy some one-on-one tutoring, at times when his sister is receiving additional instruction in one of her less enjoyed subjects, such as spelling. During such times, the Client will arrange for the girl to have another instructor so that the boy can work individually with the Tutor.
It is important too that social opportunities are explored, perhaps through sports or community service, or perhaps by joining a children’s drama group. Again, the Tutor will be responsible for researching such opportunities and gaining parental approval before trying them out.
Other Aspects
However the schedule works out, it is expected that the Tutor will be with the children an average of 8 hours per day, 5 days week.
The standard minimum nine weeks paid vacation will apply.
It may be possible for the Client to provide accommodation to the right Tutor, but it is expected that it is more likely that the Tutor will live out. If the Tutor does live out, the Client may provide up to an additional £12,000 per annum stipend towards housing costs, depending on circumstances.
The family will provide, or reimburse the Tutor, for all meals that occur during tutoring time.
Travel, Term and Fees
Should the Tutor require a car for excursions with the children, one will be provided, or the Tutor will be reimbursed for taxis.
If the Tutor accompanies the family on any excursion outside London, the Client will be responsible for all expenses for the Tutor.
This position is for one year.
The fees for this position will be £54,000 GBP.
An additional stipend of £12,000 will be paid to the Tutor if the Client is unable to offer accommodation.
