The assignment will begin as close as possible to July 7th, when the family move to their summer residence on the Turkish coast (near Bodrum). The Tutor will be expected to work there with the boy before returning to the UK to tutor him after school throughout the 2008/2009 academic year.
Ideally, the client is looking for the right tutor for the entire twelve month term. However, they may consider one Tutor to go to Turkey for the summer, and a second Tutor to take over, in September, when the family returns to the UK. Please make clear if your application is summer only, Sept to July, or entire contract.
Students
Outside of school, he is fairly active. He enjoys playing sports and works well in teams despite being quite shy at times. He has recently started playing the guitar. His real passion is World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), which he loves to watch, and over time he has developed an almost encyclopaedic knowledge.
Role of the Tutor
Whilst the family is in Turkey it is expected that the Tutor will revisit some of the work from the last academic year and use a problem solving approach to identify the gaps in his knowledge and skill set. With this in mind, it would be essential that the Tutor have a solid understanding of dyslexia and how to develop a strategic approach to the challenges that the student faces. The family feels that the more that can be done over the summer, the better he will reintegrate into school come September.
It is also important to remember that this will be his holiday time. The family would like to keep a healthy balance between work and fun, which means that the Tutor will be expected not only to create fun learning based activities for him but also to participate actively in other activities as well. The Tutor will certainly need to be an individual with a love of the outdoors and water sports in particular.
In keeping with this, the family is also looking for a person who can act as a mentor for their son. They want someone who exhibits the characteristics that they would like to develop in their boy and someone who is able to engender good study skills and a strong work ethic would be an ideal candidate.
Hours and Holidays
Whilst working in the UK the Tutor will be expected to work between 4pm and 8pm Sunday to Thursday. The Tutor is entitled to 9 weeks paid vacation per annum. It is likely that this will be taken during the students school.
Accommodations, Travel, and Miscellaneous
A car will be provided for the use of the Tutor throughout the length of the assignment. The family will meet the cost of this.
The family occasionally takes trips to other locations. If these trips fall within term time, the Tutor will be expected to join the family. The family will naturally meet the cost of this and any expense incurred.
If the ideal candidate has already booked a summer vacation that they would need to cancel, the Client will compensate them for any unrecoverable costs. In addition, if the Tutor is under contract already, the client is open to a one-off payment to their current employer to release them from their obligations.
