This position is not currently available.
Tutoring is required in the evenings after school and perhaps occasionally at the weekend, mainly to work with two of three children of a family to help prepare for 11+ exams and Common Entrance.
The Tutoring Role
The tutoring will consist of helping a 10 year old girl to prepare for her 11+ exams, and a 12 year old girl to prepare for her Common Entrance. The older girl has particular weakness in Maths, where a somewhat eclectic mathematical learning background has left several holes. Along with teaching or reinforcing new material, she will need to be drilled with rote memorisation of key facts and repetition to cement these concepts. The younger girl has unknown weaknesses, and it will be up to the Tutor to identify and address them.
The position will suit a Tutor with considerable experience and an excellent track record in preparing young people for these exams.
Hours
It is anticipated that the Tutor will work for up to 4.5 hours per week. This will probably be on the basis of 1-1.5 hours after school three times a week.
It is possible that the other child may require some support with their studies and the Tutor should anticipate being asked to do some additional work in this respect or to give some of the above hours to help the girls.
Accommodation, Fees, and Miscellaneous
No accommodation is included in this contract. The hourly rate to the Tutor will be 48 per hour, and the Tutor will be paid monthly in arrears on presentation of timesheets.
The client will give at least 48 hours notice that tutoring is required.
