Main Responsibilities

A Beaconhouse school in Abu Dhabi wishes to improve the quality of instruction offered to its pupils in Maths, and seeks an individual with the knowledge and experience necessary to improve the quality and efficacy of maths instruction such that student preparedness levels exceed ADEC standards.

The individual must have an ability to assess weaknesses in current Maths faculty and instructional methods and offer concrete solutions to address those weaknesses. In addition to teaching Maths, the individual must take a hands-on approach to assist fellow members of the faculty to help students improve their test scores.

Requirements

Candidates must be qualified/certified to teach in government schools in their home country, with teacher training qualifications such as a BA in Education, Postgraduate Certificate in Education, Higher Diploma in Education, teaching certification, or similar.

Candidates must be culturally sensitive to the Emirates and able to function well among members of its society. They also need excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

At least three years experience teaching Maths at senior grades (i.e. ages 15-18) are required, and candidates should be able to demonstrate a history of improving teaching standards in school settings. Experience in mentoring and training other teachers is essential to this position. A demonstrable track record of standardized test score improvement is helpful.

Candidates of both genders are required for this position. Preference will be given to those who are bilingual in English and Arabic.

Contractual details

  • Start: January 2010

  • Salary: AED 190,000 to 210,000 per annum, tax free
