Main Responsibilities
A new Beaconhouse School in Abu Dhabi requires a Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO), aiming to increase its identification of and services for students with special needs. The SENCO will help teachers to understand and identify special educational needs in pupils, as well as conduct analyses of whole schools to tailor custom plans addressing the special educational needs of each environment.
The SENCO will develop comprehensive school improvement plans, taking into account the needs of each school and the requirements of ADEC. Subsequently, the SENCO will monitor vigorously the progress of each school towards the targets set by the plan, modifying and reinforcing the plan as appropriate.
Requirements
Candidates must be culturally sensitive to the Emirates and able to function well among members of its society. They also need excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
At least three years experience teaching SEN in Secondary/High School required. Experience in mentoring and training other teachers is essential to this position. A demonstrable track record of working for the improvement of SEN standards is very important.
Preference will be given to those who have some Arabic in addition to English.
Contractual details
